Drawing Template

Not sure how to specify a custom tool? Start from our template, fill in the dimensions, and send it back.

A custom tool is only as good as the drawing behind it. This template shows the dimensions we need, in the format that lets an engineer review the geometry on the day it arrives instead of sending it back with questions.

What the template asks for

Shank and overall

Shank diameter and type, overall length, and the effective cutting length you need.

Cutting geometry

Diameter, flute count, helix direction and angle, corner or profile form.

Tolerance

The dimensions that are actually inspected, and the tolerance on each one.

Material and coating

The workpiece material, or the hardness range if you do not want to name it.

Machine and holder

The interface, and the maximum spindle speed available to you.

Marking

Whether the tool carries your part number, your logo, or nothing at all.

Not a technical drawing? A photograph with a few dimensions marked on it, or a worn tool posted to us to copy, works just as well. Send whatever you have and we will take it from there.
