Automotive
High-volume tooling for steel and aluminium powertrain and chassis components, built for repeatability across long production runs.

The problem
Automotive work is decided by cost per part, not by the tool. Every second of cycle time and every unplanned tool change shows up in the numbers, and a tool that varies piece to piece is worse than a slower tool that does not. Repeatability is the whole specification.
What we recommend
Milling to a fixed radius
Corner radius tools held to ±0.01 mm on the radius, so the corner on part 10,000 is the corner on part one. AlCrN coating for extended dry running.
4-flute corner radius · R0.5 · ±0.01 mm
High-feed roughing
Six flutes and a protected corner, converting spindle speed into table feed without pushing the chip load past what the edge can carry.
6-flute · R1.0–3.0 · AlTiN
Holes in one pass
5×D carbide drills with internal coolant, and H7 reamers for the fits that follow. Fewer operations, fewer chances to scrap a part.
5×D drill · internal coolant · H7 reamer
Starting cutting data
| Material | Cutting speed vc | Feed fz | Depth of cut ap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon / alloy steel | 200–300 m/min | 0.03–0.07 mm/tooth | 0.5×D |
| Cast iron | 180–260 m/min | 0.03–0.06 mm/tooth | 0.4×D |
| Aluminium | 400–700 m/min | 0.05–0.12 mm/tooth | 0.5×D |
How to specify it
- Annual volume and batch size — this decides whether we quote standard stock or a dedicated grind.
- Part drawing with the critical dimensions — the dimensions that are inspected are the ones we hold hardest.
- Machine and tool-holder interface — HSK, BT, Capto. It affects the shank and the runout we can promise.
- Tool-change policy — if tools are changed on a fixed schedule, we can specify the interval with you.
